Physiotherapy is a health care profession concerned with human function and movement. It is a highly competitive ?eld of healthcare that covers treatment in a wide range of different settings. Physiotherapists work as practitioners using core skills in exercise therapy, manual therapy and electro-physical modalities helping a wide range of people who are affected by injury, illness or by disability.
Working as a Physiotherapist requires dedication and motivation. A strong aptitude for problem solving is necessary along with plenty of patience as many cases will require long-term treatment. Good people skills, particularly communication, are absolutely essential. Our 2-year full time degree combines theory and practice to thoroughly prepare students for a career in healthcare. The curriculum for Physiotherapy studies complies with the requirements of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education within education standards and directives of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT).
Teaching and learning in the University setting is delivered by highly skilled and experienced lecturers using a variety of methods including lectures, seminars and tutorials, practical classes, project work and workshops. Master full-time programme designed to allow graduates the opportunity to enter the professions of Physiotherapy. The degree equips students with the academic skills required of an MSc graduate as well as the professional and clinical skills required of a newly qualified therapist.
Physiotherapists treat an incredibly diverse range of patients. Within a hospital setting they may work in healthcare of the elderly, mental health, neurology, orthopaedics, outpatients, paediatrics, palliative care, primary care and respiratory, to name just the most common areas. Some physiotherapists choose to work in the private sector or in alternative settings such as academia, rehabilitation centres, nursing homes, schools for physically challenged children, educational centres, sport centres, Spa & Wellness facilities, fitness clubs, health and beauty clinics, additional employment opportunities exist for researchers, advisors or consultants in educational, industrial or government institutions.
This wide variety makes physiotherapy an exciting profession in which there are always new challenges and possibilities for career development.
